You never thought dates could be the star of ice cream - but that's exactly what we're here for.
Hi Mejdoolers,
Ice cream made from dates? Sounds too good to be true - but that's exactly what we're here for. Meet your new favourite frozen treat: Sukkari Gaf date ice cream, made in the Ninja Creami with just FIVE ingredients and ZERO refined sugar. :O
The best part? This is a perfect way to use up older Sukkari dates that have started to dry out a little. Once blended into the base, you still get that signature caramel-like sweetness - nothing goes to waste.
Sukkari dates are known for their natural honey-like sweetness and soft, creamy texture - which makes them an obvious choice for ice cream. They're a rich source of natural sugars, fibre, potassium, magnesium, and antioxidants, so you're getting more than just dessert. Paired with Greek yogurt for protein and creaminess, this is a treat your body can actually get behind.
Ingredients:
Method: Blend everything until smooth, freeze in your Ninja Creami pint, then spin until creamy. That's it.
What makes this recipe work is the natural composition of Sukkari dates. They're high in glucose and fructose - the kind of fast-acting natural sugars that blend seamlessly into a creamy frozen base without needing any help from refined sugar. The cinnamon and pinch of salt round it out, and the Greek yogurt adds a subtle tang that balances the sweetness perfectly.
No ice cream maker? No problem. The Ninja Creami does the heavy lifting, but any high-speed blender and a standard freezer will get you most of the way there - just expect a slightly denser texture.
One thing we love about this recipe is that it's actually better with dates that have dried out slightly. Fresh, sticky Sukkari dates are incredible on their own - but once they start to firm up, blending them into a recipe like this is the move. The flavour is just as rich, the sweetness is just as good, and nothing goes to waste. That's the kind of zero-waste cooking we can get behind.
Simple ingredients. Grocery-store quality ice cream. Naturally sweet. Ridiculously good.
